  Whilst compiling this information we went back to the auction ad to look at the photo again. The tyres in the photos look brand new! The tyres on the car we inspected were worn out! Also one of the photos clearly shows an angle of the car with one number plate, and other angles show the car with another set of number plates, neither of these sets of number plates patched the set that was on the car the day we arrived. How can one car have 3 sets of number plates?! Do they have a fleet of cars that are being switched on auction? This is the most logical answer. I will be lodging a complaint with the Department of Fair Trading.

  After debating with Ash for sometime, I said that I would not buy the car as it was “not as described”. Ash agreed and refunded to my credit card the deposit. He has relisted the car already.

  note this seller is also known as autocarbay. I bought this Mercedes ML430 on ebay from this dealer. The description included the word “brilliant” to describe the condition of the car. No faults were mentioned. After winning the Auction Ash and I were in contact to arrange payment and pick up of the car… I had a witness to all phone calls and dealings with Ash. I paid the $200 deposit to Ash after asking if the car was good for roadworthy as I would need to get a roadworthy and registration organised on the day and drive the car back to Townsville (from Melbourne). He said he had had it “checked” and it should be no trouble. We arranged flights and hotel accommodation and proceeded to Melbourne from Townsville to complete the transaction. On arriving we asked to inspect and test drive the car, Ash agreed. During our cursory inspection of the car we found the following:

  • The auction ad describes the car per the following “paintwork is in very good condition, and the body work has no sign of any previous accident damage.” The car appears to have been involved in a rear end accident by the indication the ML430 badge is missing and the paint is different in texture and colour.

  • The trim & interior of the car was described by the dealer as “ overall in excellent condition” – we found a piece of plywood with Velcro stuck to it holding an interior compartment closed, the armrest compartment was damaged inside, requiring replacement, there were excessive rips and marks in the interior of the car for the age of it. There were household screws holding one large trim piece on.

  We bought a car off these guys sight unseen as an interstate customer. I bought my (used) car with JBH and it was a EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE!!! The car arrived right on time. They made sure it was clean and the service was Fast, professional, courteous and on-time.

  This seller has clearly tried to deceive me and other potential buyers. He is currently listing the car with none of these faults mentioned. We only looked at the car for a short time, and found all this…a full check would find more. His statement that he had the car “checked” can only be false and misleading at best, criminal and fraudulent at worst.

  31/10/2017 - in response to the sellers comment after this review, I was actually in the building and he actually physically swiped my refund of deposit back onto my credit card - this can be proved via bank records - nice try though... I'm off to the police station, you people need to be stopped

  • We are in great doubt as to whether the photos accompanying the auction listing were the actual vehicle as I was shocked by the poor condition of the car on approaching it (after seeing the photos) along with the previously mentioned incorrect number plates.
